The surrender of Thailands enigmatic student!

The decision to surrender is a significant one!

It is marking a pivotal moment in the unfolding narrative. In a recent turn of events that has gripped the nation, a 19-year-old student, identified only as "Worakan," voluntarily surrendered to Pathumwan district police. The suspect, armed with a kitchen knife allegedly broke into the school premises and attacked a fellow student. The motive behind the incident became more complex, as the suspect shared with police interrogators that he had been a victim of bullying and extortion by Nong Ray, the late victim.

This mysterious unfolding has left the public with questions, as the young individual faced allegations surrounding a grave incident. In the aftermath of Worakan's surrender, the pursuit of justice and closure becomes paramount. The legal proceedings that follow will shed light on the details of the case, providing a framework for understanding and resolution.

While headlines may focus on the alleged actions, it's crucial to recognize the human dimension of the story. This involves understanding the background, the circumstances that led to this point, and the broader societal implications that merit exploration.

Chinese New Year 2024

This year February 10th is Chinese New Year.

Find events and activities for kids going on for Chinese New Year in Chiang Mai.  Will there be dragons? Will there be lanterns or a parade? What will your fortune hold for the year ahead?

Chiang Mai has a huge Chinese population and Chinese heritage. Prior to Covid travel restrictions, Chiang Mai was one of the top tourist destinations for Chinese tourists. Over the years, the city has expanded its Chinese New Year celebrations outside of China Town.

You can find more events happening around the city, and with a large number of Chinese restaurants, there will be many opportunities to try authentic Chinese food as well.

Traditionally in China, Chinese New Year lasts for 2 weeks. In Chiang Mai, there are major events that last for about 3 days, with special dinners continuing for the 2 week duration. Many local families celebrate at home and some celebrations occur at local schools as well.

THAILAND HOTSPOT

Why Chiang Mai is a hotspot for digital nomads

Chiang Mai has an incredible amount of open social network groups that are constantly providing training seminars, dinners, social outings, meetups and networking opportunities.  Gone are the day’s where networking in Chiang Mai required joining private membership clubs such as the Tropical MBA Podcasts ‘Dynamite Circle. ($588 per year) or the more recent Nomads List (one off $49).  In fact the free and open social networking groups in Chiang Mai, Thailand have memberships that exceeds these world-wide communities several times over.

The social communities in Chiang Mai, provide information on “how to…”, “where to…” and “when to…”; along with opportunities for hiring and selling the services of each other within the local environment.  Least not, the constant social events, training seminars by visiting experts and free workshops put on by locals wanting to network and promote their services. – And that is just the Nomad Groups!

Long before discovered by Digital Nomads, Chiang Mai was (and still is) a retirement haven for many Expats from  around the world.  They have over years built social and entertainment networks that exceed many times over the specialty digital nomad communities.  Lana Cricket have used the Gymkhana sports grounds for over 50 years, ranging a wide variety of tennis, golf, cricket and other sporting and social events.

THAI FOOD

Pad Krapow is a Thai classic not for the faint-hearted

There are few Thai street food dishes more comforting and delicious than Pad Krapow. This stir-fried Thai basil dish is my go-to option when I’m in Thailand wandering around the streets thinking about what to eat. My Pad Krapow recipe is ridiculously easy to make, which is great because we all love simplicity in our lives.

The key ingredient is Krapow, or Thai holy basil, which has a wonderful fragrance to it and a delicious peppery taste.

INGREDIENTS

Thai Pad Krapow Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams of minced chicken or pork, depending on your preference. You can also use chicken breast if you prefer.

  • 5 Thai chilis (feel free to add more or less. 5 is the ideal amount for me).

  • 6 cloves of Thai garlic or 3 large cloves of normal garlic.

  • 1 tablespoon of a neutral oil such as sunflower oil or rapeseed oil.

  • 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce.

  • A large bunch of around 9-12 Thai holy basil leaves with stems removed.
