MFP remains unshaken despite the court's decision
MFP advisory chairman, Pita Limjaroenrat faces reporters on Court ruling
The Move Forward Party (MFP) faces a unanimous decision from the Constitutional Court regarding its advocacy to amend Section 112 of the Criminal Code, commonly referred to as the lese majeste law. This ruling sets clear boundaries for any endeavors to alter the existing law. Nevertheless, the party claims that MFP is not merely a party but a movement that can always undergo a revival.
The court issued an order instructing the party and its former leader, Pita Limjaroenrat, to refrain from engaging in any activities, expressing opinions, speaking, writing, publishing, advertising, or conveying messages through any means to amend Section 112. Additionally, they were barred from attempting to amend the section through non-legislative processes.
However, political activist Ruangkrai Leekitwattana has urged the Election Commission (EC) to review his plea seeking the dissolution of the Move Forward Party (MFP) due to its stance on Section 112. The EC rejected the petition earlier, citing it as baseless and insufficient grounds for the party's dissolution.
